ABOUT US

Kingston Green Radio was founded in 2007 by Sam Hermitage who had a vision to give a voice to the Kingston community while highlighting the urgent need for environmental awareness locally and around the world. The station also works under the name of Green Futures Festival Radio for its globally based audience. Sam and his small team have been working tirelessly since then to keep the station running 24 hours.

Now the station boasts over 20 regular presenters covering a wide spectrum of discussion topics and music tastes and bringing a unique blend of knowledge and entertainment to the airwaves. For its musical jukebox, listening to KGR is the next best thing to taking a trip around the world. You can hear the softly spiced tunes of Nepal on the Everest Show, a passionate exploration of Korean culture and musical genres on Radio Kimchi, positive alternatives with Jean Vidler in the Green Futures Show, tunes from the best local acts on Local Artist Showcase, plus special programmes covering serious environmental, ethical and community issues. There is something for everyone, from every decade, country and background.

Kingston Green Radio is keen to involve more local people and we are always happy to hear from anyone who shares a passion for green issues, loves music and their local community, and would like to join our team.

We are very grateful to our current sponsors and are keen to attract more. We are looking for sustainable businesses with an interest in green matters who might wish to come on board be it as a sponsor or to run a promotion with us. We are particularly looking for funding to help run our annual one week FM broadcast during Climate Week, a crucial time to promote awareness and engagement in climate change for the better.
